During an Indian Summer, I was backpacking through the Pacific Northwest in a pristine, untouched area called Indian Heaven. I wanted to capture my very first impression on canvas: that moment when the clear, fresh water of a lake starts sparkling through the trees. I used bright, warm colors to bring that golden sunlight right into your home.
To paint this, I used a special, ancient technique called egg tempera. It’s been used for centuries because of how beautiful and lasting it is. Since it’s painted on high-quality archival canvas, these colors will stay just as vivid for many lifetimes to come.
